1st January 2013 took on the same shape as the same date last year. Seeing me drag poor Charlotte to the beautiful Northumberland town of Morpeth, to watch me drag my sorry winter physique around the hilly New Years Day 11km road race. This time we had Freya in tow to start 2013 where she left off in 2012, doing what she knows best.... Sleeping in her buggy whilst I'm racing.
Last year I was feeling good, I'd had some good winter training in all prepared for the short slog ahead of me leading up to Israel! I'd completed the course finishing 18th in a time of 41min10sec. After last nights curry cider and champagne I was going to be nowhere near that but I felt surprisingly refreshed after a pep talk with mam and dad and Charl last night about my focus and what I want to achieve.
Number 78 in the left of your shot, I got off to a great start and held my position of 12th for the entire race finishing strong in 39min40sec I was never going to grumble with my main training set only starting yesterday.
I'm feeling good for the time of year and I'm ready for all my challenges that lie ahead. This is short but sweet and I will be continuing where I left off last year before work and family life took over.
Thanks again to www.a1multisport.co.uk and www.sigsports.co.uk for their ongoing support and all the team at Coalfields RT.
Biggest thanks as always to the amazing Charlotte and Freya.
